Real Karate. Real Challenge. Real Growth.

The USA-IFK is a community of dojos, students, and instructors dedicated to the journey of Kyokushin — where power meets purpose, and tradition meets self-discovery.

What is Kyokushin?

Kyokushin Karate is a full-contact style founded by Masutatsu Oyama in the 1950s. Known for its rigorous standards and spirit of perseverance, Kyokushin emphasizes strong basics, physical conditioning, and realistic kumite.

Kyokushin is more than a martial art. It’s a discipline of mind, body, and spirit — rooted in hard training, full-contact testing, and lifelong growth. Kyokushin offers a path for those who seek challenge and growth.

Who We Are — The USA-IFK

We are one of 65 member countries (and counting) under the umbrella of the International Federation of Karate (IFK). The USA-IFK brings together like-minded dojos across the United States under a common banner of respect, tradition, and full-contact karate.

USA-IFK was established as the U.S. branch of the International Federation of Karate by Shihan Michael Monaco (8th Dan) under the guidance of Hanshi Steve Arneil (10th Dan), founder of the IFK. Our mission is to uphold Kyokushin’s traditional values while providing opportunities for growth and competition across the United States.

Whether you're a new student, an experienced fighter, or an independent dojo seeking community — we welcome those who share the spirit of Kyokushin.
